Prevention & Intervention

The Prevention and Intervention (PI) Program , one of the Military Family Services Programs (MFSP) , is designed to provide all members of CF family units with assistance through a broad range of preventive activities and support services.

These measures are designed to improve the family’s ability to function in society and restore its emotional balance, while offering direct support to individuals who have been overwhelmed by the behaviour of another person or by situations.

a) Identify the Problem The PRC helps the service user to prepare a clear and accurate description of the problem or concern and to make the connection between his/her need and existing social services. The co-ordinator encourages the client to discuss the problem from the point of view of a member of the community.

b) Define the Problem Where necessary, the PRC helps the service user determine the need, goal and scope of existing social services within the military and civilian community.
