Local MP Recognizes Military Member as Community Volunteer

David McGuinty, Member of Parliament for Ottawa South, presented a certificate of recognition to CPO2 David Ascroft for his volunteer initiatives with youth in the community on Saturday, April 22, at the Elizabeth Park Community Centre in Uplands.

David Ascroft is a member of the Canadian Forces and moonlights as “Dr. Kaboom”, circus performer and “balloonologist.” He volunteers with the Military Family Resource Centre (MFRC) and runs the Uplands Circus Program, where he teaches young people unique skills, such as juggling, balloon shaping and riding unicycles.

David and some of his students showcased their talents on Saturday at this year’s EPCC Easter Egg Hunt. During this event, David McGuinty, a strong advocate for volunteer initiatives, presented a certificate of recognition to David Ascroft for his contributions to the Ottawa South riding and, more specifically, to the military families living in the area.

Congratulations David!
