Sunday, June 4th, marked the fourth annual Canadian Forces Day - a date designated for all Canadians to salute the brave men and women who serve in the Canadian Forces.

The credit goes to you for protecting this country and its citizens, coming to the aid of friends and allies the world over, and showing compassion to the people you have encountered.

You are an outstanding team of Canadians. The job this country has bestowed upon you is far from an easy one, and yet you have gone above and beyond the call of duty.

As Minister of National Defence, I want to express my personal gratitude for the dedication, skill, professionalism and humanity which you demonstrate in your jobs everyday, whether here in Canada or abroad.

I am honoured to be your Minister, and both I and the government are committed to ensuring that you get the support you deserve.
